The European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction promotes scientific and clinical progress in companion animal reproduction, pediatrics and neonatalogy throughout Europe.The rules and regulations concerning the import or export of live animals, sperms and embryos used to differ from one european state to another. The Council of the European Communities has issued a series of Directives with the aim to harmonise the trade in and imports into the Community of live animals, semen, ova and embryos :
These regulations apply to companion animals as well. However local regulations still apply for the import from outside the EEC of live animals, semen, ova and embryos. The European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction strives towards creating a permanent database of local regulations on these matters.
